A man is accused of threatening to stab officers and spitting at them out a window in a stand-off that lasted more than four hours.
At around 10.40pm on Friday (October 27), police attended a home in Valley Road in Rusthall, near Tunbridge Wells, in connection with a reported assault nearby.
It is alleged constables were refused entry into the property and were warned by a man holding a knife they would be stabbed.
They were reportedly spat at from an upstairs window and had items thrown at them.
Three other people in the property were said to have been assaulted.
Extra officers were sent to the scene and, at around 3am, police were able to gain access.
Callum Jefferys, 27, of no fixed address, was arrested and later charged with affray and six counts of assault – including three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
He was also charged with three counts of criminal damage.
These allegations relate to spitting in a police van, urinating on the floor of a custody cell and damage to items at the property in Rusthall.
Jefferys was remanded to a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court today (October 30).
