THE Mayoress of Tunbridge Wells, Pamela Howell, is recovering in hospital following a leg operation to treat cancer. The operation was caried out on Tuesday.

Her illness was only diagnosed recently. The leaders of all three political parties on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council wished her well at the start of a full meeting of the council on Tuesday evening.
