One onlooker recorded the exchange which shows a man with a bicycle helmet stood in front of a blue Vauxhall outside the store and preventing it from moving.
Moments later the car is driven into the cyclist who ends up on top of the bonnet.
After getting to his feet the cyclist explains to an onlooker he was almost hit by the car elsewhere in the car park, before the Vauxhall driver attempts to reverse away.
However, he's chased down by the man, who has his phone in his hand and appears to be ringing someone, while repeatedly shouting "wait".
A police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating a report of an assault in Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells.
"It is alleged a man driving a car got out of the vehicle and assaulted a cyclist following a traffic incident, at around 2.10pm on Sunday, December 5.
"The man on the bike did not report any injuries and enquiries are under way to identify the motorist."
