A movie based on India's remarkable triumph in the 1983 Cricket World Cup - which included a legendary swashbuckling batting performance from its captain Kapil Dev in Tunbridge Wells - is set to hit the big screens later this month.
Makers of the flick, called simply 83, shot scenes at the Nevill cricket ground in the town - and also at the Historic Dockyard Chatham, a favourite location for movie and TV productions. Filming was facilitated by Kent County Council's Kent Film Office.
It follows the team as they arrive in the UK for the tournament and were transformed from teetering on the brink of first round elimination to lifting the trophy at Lord's.
The Hindi-language film filmed the scenes in the county in 2019 but its release was constantly delayed due to the pandemic.
It is now due to hit cinemas on December 24.
A key scene in the move will be Kapil Dev's remarkable tournament-turning innings at the Nevill as India struggled to get past the group stages of the tournament.
Having lost their first four wickets against the unfancied Zimbabwe for just nine runs, they seemed destined for a humiliating defeat.
But the India skipper steadied the ship with a remarkable 175 not out to steer his team to 266-8 from their 60 overs.
They then skittled out Zimbabwe to record a 31-run win.
It is cited as one of the most remarkable innings in the sport's history.
Fuelled by self-belief they went on to beat the hot favourites the West Indies - who had won both previous tournaments - in the final and lift the trophy for the first time.
The film gets its premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia on December 15.
