A woman who was found dead in her home yesterday evening has been named locally as Gillian Hamilton-Ritchie.
Police were called to her address in The Bungalows, Lady's Gift Road, Southborough, at 6pm and arrested a man in his 60s who was known to her on suspicion of murder.
Kent Police would not confirm the nature of the suspect's relationship with Mrs Hamilton-Ritchie, who was aged in her late 50s. No one else is being sought in connection with the murder.
Her next of kin has been informed and a report of her death has been passed to the coroner for North West Kent.
Mrs Hamilton-Ritchie, previously of Willington Street, Maidstone, is believed to have lived at the property with her husband Edward Hamilton-Ritchie.
This month two years ago Yvonne Tapp, 62, was found dead in the same road.
Her partner of eight months Keith Solly was last year found not guilty of murder on the grounds of insanity.
While in October 29-year-old Piotr Kolodziejski was found dead in the quiet cul de sac.
The death was non-suspicious and an inquest was due to be held today at Gravesend Old Town Hall.
Neither incident is being linked to yesterday's murder inquiry.
