DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a body at a car park.
It is thought to be the body of Terry Edmonds, 17, from Tunbridge Wells, who disappeared last Monday.
Last Thursday afternoon Terry's mother, Helen, made an emotional appeal to the public to help find her.
The body was found at the Morrisons supermarket car park in Vale Road in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday afternoon.
Later a Kent Police spokeswoman said: “Kent Police are in the early stages of a murder inquiry.”
It is understood Terry's family have been told to expect the worst. A post mortem examination has been carried out on the body and it has been identified but detectives have not yet disclosed any further details.
Members of the Terry's immediate family are being comforted by other relatives and specially trained police officers.
Detectives say they want to speak to anyone who has seen anything remotely suspicious in the Vale Road area during the past few days.
Last Thursday police said concern for Terry's welfare was growing as there had been no contact from her and it appeared her mobile phone had not been used.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police incident room on 01732 379302.
