DETECTIVES investigating the suitcase murder of teenager Terry Edmonds want the public’s help with two new clues in the inquiry.
Terry, 17, was strangled and dumped in a suitcase in Tunbridge Wells in April. She was last seen alive on CCTV after she got off a train at the town’s railway station at 6.25pm on Monday, April 17.
Officers investigating her murder want to find a distinctive black padded jacket with a thick white stripe across the front and white markings on the side. The jacket is possibly hooded.
They are also want to trace the origins of a pink sheet/blanket that was found in the area around the murder scene.
Police are also still trying to trace a person in a CCTV picture taken at Tunbridge Wells railway station and previously released. This person could be a man or woman. He or she is wearing a light peaked cap and black top with white stripes.
Det Chief Insp Anne Brittain, who is leading the hunt for Terry’s murderer, said: "We are keen to speak to this person and would urge them to come forward as they may have seen or heard something that will help us with our inquiry. Also, if you know who this person is, please call us.
DCI Brittain stressed: "The black jacket with the white stripe and markings is important to our inquiry. We are asking the public to think hard about this.
"Someone out there may have seen this jacket or knows what happened to it, or where it is. It may have been discarded and found. It may have a new owner and someone may even now be wearing it."
She added: "Also, somebody must know where the pink sheet or blanket came from. Perhaps it came from a charity shop, someone may have dropped it, or someone may know how it came to be in the area around the murder scene. It is important that police find out about both of these items."
A total of three men have been arrested during the inquiry. One has been bailed, two have been released without charge.
Thirty police officers are dedicated to the inquiry, along with additional support staff.
DCI Brittain said: "Kent Police is committed to bringing Terry’s killer to justice. We are making progress in the case, but the public can help us enormously too.
"We have to be detailed and methodical in our investigation. There is also forensic evidence that is still in the process of being analysed."
