A giant crane has lifted 11 new apartments into place.
The modular homes were lifted onto the roof of an existing three-storey block of flats known as Hamilton Court, in Chilston Road, Tunbridge Wells.
The homes were manufactured by Castlemere Developments at its factory in Southampton and brought to the site by road.
The firm will now spend about three months connecting up the services and fitting out the apartments before putting them on sale for prices starting at £223,000 for a one-bed flat and £354,000 for a two-bed property.
Each will have either an outdoor terrace or a balcony and be warmed by heat pumps.
Castlemere spokesman John Parker said: “There are two advantages to this type of build. Firstly, it is quicker and causes less disruption to neighbours.
“Secondly, it comes out at about 70% of the standard cost of a new-build.”
