A 93-year-old woman has had a lucky escape after being targeted by scammers.
The pensioner from Tunbridge Wells had been targeted by fraudsters posing as police officers who tried to get hold of her bank details.
Claiming to be a detective from a non-existent 'London Police Station', the conman told his victim someone was trying to take thousands of pounds from her account.
He instructed the pensioner to call him back.
Instead Kent Police were called and no money was stolen.
A community support officer has since visited the woman to provide advice and reassurance.
Sgt Ross Shearing said: "Unfortunately those who are targeted are often the most vulnerable, such as elderly people or victims with learning difficulties.
"A police force will never ask a member of the public for their bank details, or money, over the phone. If you receive one of these calls end it immediately and wait at least five minutes before using your telephone in order to clear your line from the scammer."
If a person believes they're the victim of ths scam, they should ask the supposed police officer for their details and end the call.
