A week of special events is being held to mark Mencaps' Learning Disability Week.
Mencap is an organisation that works in partnership with people with a learning disability, and all our services support people to live life as they choose.
Hosted by Tunbridge Wells charity Pepenbury, the week will culminate in a Fun Day at their headquarters in Pembury.
Art and pottery classes are run as part of their on-going programme of daytime activities for people with learning disabilities.
Local photographer Jason Dilling has teamed up with Pepenbury and created an exhibition demonstrating the talent of these individuals.
Jason spent weeks photographing the artists and has produced a beautifully observed series of portraits.
Beatrice D’Angelo, Pepenbury’s senior arts and crafts instructor said: “Everyone has a disability. Shyness can be a disability but we concentrate on their ability which could be a hand movement or a blink of an eye. Everyone who walks in here is an artist.”
“It’s all about ability in here. We look at what they can do, not at what they can’t do." - Beatrice D'Angelo
You can see the art and photography exhibition at Pepenbury from Monday until Friday June 21st from 10am to 4pm.
