Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a Tunbridge Wells bookmaker.

Officers were called to a branch of William Hill in Mount Pleasant Road at 8.15pm yesterday, after a man went into the shop and threatened staff there, demanding money.

He left with £335.

The suspect was a short white man in his mid-20s with short brown hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, denim jacket and had a hoody in his hands.

He is not thought to have had a weapon.

A William Hill spokesman said: "The reason that so little was taken was because our staff in the shop followed our security procedures fantastically.

"Our member of staff who was working at the time was understandably upset but thankfully was not physically harmed."

Detectives are urging anyone who might have seen him, or a man matching his description at a taxi rank or Tunbridge Wells train station between 8.15pm and 8.30pm to contact them.

Anyone with information should call 01732 379229 quoting reference YY/4594/15 or contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
