A man and a woman died after being hit by trains in two separate incidents on the same day, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to High Brooms railway station in North Farm Road near Tunbridge Wells at 10.27am on Saturday to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a man was pronounced dead a short time later."
Five hours later, police were called to Kemsing railway station in Honey Pot Lane between Wrotham and Sevenoaks.
The spokesman said: "Officers were called to the line near Kemsing railway station at 3.23pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene."
He added that neither incident was being treated as suspicious and that files are being prepared to send to the coroner.
Police had originally unofficially confirmed the deaths in a tweet offering condolences to the families of those who lost their lives but had not given details of where the accidents happened.
The police force wrote: "After two sad fatalities on Kent’s railways this weekend, our PC DJ is planning a 24-hour DJ challenge raising money for Kent Mind Mental Health. Our thoughts are with the two families."
The incidents caused widespread delays to rail services.
Passengers had to use buses between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells on the Hastings line and trains between Maidstone East and Otford had to be diverted via Paddock Wood for several hours.
