Police were forced to smash a car window to arrest two drug dealers.

Haroub Haroub and Mohammed Salim, both 19, have been sentenced to a total of almost five years in prison after they were arrested in Tunbridge Wells in January.

Officers became suspicious of a Vauxhall Astra travelling along Brook Road, where they discovered cling film packaging, three mobile phones and £360 in cash.

When pulled over Haroub, of East Ham, was seen making frantic efforts to conceal drugs in his tracksuit bottoms.

The pair were then arrested and taken into custody and a strip search was later conducted. Police were suspicious Haroub had secreted drugs in his body.

After being put under constant supervision two parcels were retrieved from Haroub containing a total of 88 wraps, containing crack cocaine and heroin.

On Monday, September 7, Haroub and Salim both appeared at Maidstone Crown Court. Haroub was sentenced to two years at a young offenders institution, having previously pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply.

Salim, of Silvertown, London, was convicted for the same offences, after changing his plea from not guilty to guilty. He was jailed for 30 months at a young offenders institution.

Tunbridge Wells Chief Inspector Dave Pate said: "Salim and Haroub have become the latest criminals to pay the price for coming to Tunbridge Wells.

"During the arrest it was necessary to smash a passenger window to get inside the car, after both men ignored demands to open the doors.

"Haroub had hoped that by delaying his arrest he could secrete the drugs in his body and escape justice. Unfortunately for him, my officers are very patient and we will keep criminals in custody for as long as it takes until any secreted drugs have been safely retrieved."
