A discount store is set to open in a former Wilko and has taken on some of its staff.
Poundstretcher will be launching in Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, this Saturday (February 3).
The news comes following Tunbridge council's recent purchase of the centre.
It was announced last September the local authority would be buying the building outright.
Poundstretcher is a family business established more than 40 years ago and is the first branch to open in the town.
The new store is located in the Lower Mall and will occupy the unit once home to Wilko. It will sell a wide range of household products, electrical goods and everyday essentials.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Hugh Patterson will take place this weekend at 10am.
The first customers through the door will have a chance to win £250 of shopping vouchers and take part in a charity trolley dash.
Regional director Shahid Kissay said: “We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new Poundstretcher store in Tunbridge Wells, marking the successful transformation of our sixth former Wilko location in just a few weeks.
“I would like to personally thank my extraordinary team, who made sure we get our new stores ready in short notice.
“They are working hard to keep the High Streets alive and provide continued service to customers from all local communities.”
Nicky Blanchard, centre manager at Royal Victoria Place added: “It’s wonderful to be welcoming Poundstretcher, a brand new retailer to the town and centre.
“We are also thrilled to hear that they have welcomed former Wilko employees to their team.”
