Tunbridge Wells Asda re-opens after digger ATM ram raid

An Asda store has re-opened after thieves smashed through the wall with a digger to steal a cash machine.

Police were called to the supermarket, in Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells, at around 3.30am yesterday.

Officers set up a cordon around the scene where the raiders left a large hole in the side of the building, damaged a trolley park, and downed a tree.

Investigators are linking the destructive burglary to another overnight break-in at the recycling centre also on Longfield Road.

Shoppers were at first told the store would remain closed until further notice but were once again able to access the store at 6pm yesterday.
