Video emerged showing water spouting over the road, with lower parts becoming flooded with water.

Residents took to social media last night to share their frustrations at another closure.

Posting on Facebook, David Milton said: “North Farm Road looking like a boat lake again.”

Amie Smith also commented: “Absolute madness. Cannot believe that’s twice in just over a week. The back roads were a nightmare where everyone was having to use them.”

Charlie Page added, “It took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get across town because of this earlier. It’s carnage.”

Traders also warned customers to allow time for detours as they try to operate as usual.

Last week, the same stretch was closed off due to a burst water pipe.

The closure frustrated businesses in the area, with one garage losing two-thirds of its trade.

It also impacted the nearby High Brooms Industrial Estate, with lorries only able to access the site from one direction.

South East Water has confirmed the burst water main has been fixed.

On their website today at 3.56am, they posted: “Good news. Our team on site has now completed the repair to the burst water main, and you should now see your taps flowing as normal.

“Once again, we're really sorry about the disruption.”
