An elderly pedestrian was killed after being hit by a lorry this morning.
The A264 Ashurst Road was closed in both directions between Broad Lane and Groombridge Road after the collision, at 7.40am.
An ambulance and two ambulance cars were called but medics failed to revive the 70-year-old local man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police shut the road while the scene was examined.
