Suspect held after serious assault at pub

KENT Police have arrested a 44-year-old man following an incident at a public house which left another man critically ill in hospital.

The 39-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries during the incident outside The Old West Station pub in Linden Park Road, Tunbridge Wells, at around 11.30pm on Saturday.

He was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells and then transferred to King’s College Hospital in London.

The man arrested by police was later bailed pending further inquiries. He lives in the Tunbridge Wells area.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the pub from 8pm on Saturday and has not yet spoken to officers, to contact them as soon as possible.

They would like to speak to a group of two men and two women who were sitting in the outside area. They are particularly keen to trace a white male, who is described as being between 5ft 10ins and 6ft, with a shaved or balding head, heavily built, with a large stomach and wearing a polo shirt with horizontal stripes.
