A 16-year-old has appeared in court accused of trying to murder a young footballer.
Tristan Azevedo, 18, was playing football in Grosvenor and Hilbert Park in Tunbridge Wells with his friend Slavi Chakarov on June 1, he was stabbed and left critically injured.
Today a boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court, facing a charge of attempted murder as well as an alternative of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is also accused of having an offensive weapon.
Judge Philip St John Stevens adjourned the case until July 25 when the 16-year-old is expected to enter his pleas.
A trial, which will last between five to seven days, has been set for November 28.
The suspect spoke only to confirm his name and was then remanded into custody.
Following Tristan's stabbing, his friend Slavi attempted to stem the bleeding, and he was taken to Kings College Hospital in London.
He has since been discharged.
Speaking at the time, his father Jose explained how the youngster, a promising footballer for EMC academy, was looking forward to getting back on the pitch.
He said: "He isn't focused on the negatives, he just wants to come back better and stronger.
"He is not one for sitting around and has already started sorting out his exercise routine for when he gets home."
Four other teenage boys arrested over the incident were bailed to return to a police station.
