Actor and Action for Children ambassador Jessica Hynes revealed her happiest childhood memory a campaign at a Tunbridge Wells store.
The star of Spaced, Twenty Twelve and W1A explained at the HomeSense store in Dowding Way, that she associates Christmas with wintry weather.
She is now encouraging families from Kent and the South East to support Action for Children by writing festive messages or their favourite Christmas memory on a bauble, which they can hang on HomeSense Christmas trees in return for a small donation.
Jessica said: “When I was little I really loved playing in the snow. I remember finding a huge chunk of unmelted snow on a bramble patch on the downs where I was cycling one April. It wasn’t Christmas but it still felt magical!”
"I have such fond memories of Christmas but I know that for so many thousands of children and young people in the UK the festive season can be a difficult time.
“Please drop in to your nearest HomeSense, share your memories and raise funds to help Action for Children continue to support vulnerable children, young people and their families."
Emilia Carman, head of high value fundraising at Action for Children, said: "We have worked with HomeSense on the ‘Hang a bauble’ campaign for the past four years and we are very grateful for the support of the stores and its customers. This allows shoppers to celebrate Christmas and raise vital funds to help us continue our work across the UK."
Last year HomeSense raised over £75,000 for Action for Children and has supported the charity for over a decade.
Suzanne Inch, head of retail for the company said; "We believe in supporting our local communities and helping vulnerable children achieve their potential. With each HomeSense store raising money for local Action for Children projects, it means the money our customers give is re-invested locally.”
