A DELIVERY driver was punched several times and had cash stolen when he was stopped looking at his satellite navigation system in a Kent town.

The victim was lost and was stationary at the junction of Sherwood Road and Sandhurst Road, Tunbridge Wells, when the incident took place at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

A white car pulled up in front of his VW Caddy van. The male driver got out of the car and opened the van door, before punching the victim several times in the face and stealing a small amount of money that was loose in the van.

The car then drove off along Sandhurst Road towards Pembury Road.

The van driver, a 46-year-old man from north London, suffered facial injuries and required treatment at Kent and Sussex Hospital.

The offender is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of stocky build. He was unshaven and had receding brown hair. There was a woman in the passenger seat of the car.

DC Neil Martin said: "There appears to be no reason for this assault, the driver was very shocked by what happened."
