A warning has been issued over cold callers and rogue traders posing as ex-offenders.
Kent Trading Standards put out the warning this week for residents in Tunbridge Wells after they were alerted to some complaints on social media.
The complaints said that the callers would claim to be ex-offenders on rehabilitation programmes and were selling items from rucksacks.
A police spokesman said officers had not been made aware of any specific incidents reported in the area.
A spokesman for Kent County Council, which is responsible for the county's trading standards department, urged all residents not to respond to cold callers and not to agree buying anything from people on the doorstep.
Advice was also issued that there are no schemes which involve ex-offenders going door-to-door selling homeware and other such items.
You can report cold callers to Kent Police on 101 or call 999 if they are aggressive or refuse to leave. For free advice, contact Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133.
