Elizabeth Penman appears in court accused of stealing sex toys from Ann Summers, Tunbridge Wells

A Tunbridge Wells woman who smuggled a vibrator and lubricant out of a high street shop will have to pay up.

Elizabeth Penman pleaded guilty to theft at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court today.

The court heard how Penman entered Ann Summers in Royal Victoria Place and was seen browsing the sex toy aisle.

A member of staff then saw the 36-year-old, of The Beeches, place a Rampant Rabbit vibrator into her hand bag.

The mother of two was told to return the item, which she pretended to do before leaving the premises.

Penman was followed to her car and the sex toy, along with lubricant, valued at £55, were recovered.

Brian Ferris, defending, told magistrates how Penman was suffering from bipolar disorder at the time of the offence and had a bad reaction to medication, although she didn't blame this for her actions.

She was fined £75 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
