A new mother is doing a half marathon for Prostate Cancer UK, after both her dad and uncle were diagnosed.
Holly Shortland, 32, began training for the 13 mile London Landmarks Half Marathon shortly after giving birth to her six-month-old son, Thomas.
The primary school teacher, who lives in Tunbridge Wells, was inspired to sign up after her dad, Ian Mallion, found out he had prostate cancer in March 2016. His identical twin brother was diagnosed just a month later.
She said: "It is undoubtedly because of them I decided to do it."
Both her father and uncle were given the all clear by Christmas 2016. Luckily, they caught the cancer early on.
"I was quite surprised how little I knew about it and was completely unaware of how common it is. I just wanted to do something to help."
Starting training in November 2018, Mrs Shortland runs twice a week and also goes to Pure Power Studios in Tunbridge Wells, which she can take Thomas along to.
"It has been hard, especially as I've just had my first son. I didn't realise quite how much time a newborn baby takes up."
Mrs Shortland, who lives in Bayhall Road with husband, Tristan and son, Thomas, is adding a mile on to her running distance each week.
"I'm on eight miles at the moment. I got advice from a friend - if I don't get up to 13 miles, don't worry - the atmosphere on the day will make me run for longer."
The St. James' CE Junior School teacher, who is currently on maternity leave, has always enjoyed running. But before this, her longest was the 5km Race for Life.
"I'll have to see how this one goes but I definitely have a bit of a bug for it. Although it has been tough, it has helped me get back out there after having a baby."
Mrs Shortland is nearing £1000 sponsorship for the race, which starts in Pall Mall on March 24.
Her mum, dad, husband and a few friends will be there to cheer her on as she crosses the finish line.
