THE Eridge Park 10-mile trail challenge takes place on Sunday by permission of the Marquess of Abergavenny and the Nevill Estate.

This will be the third running of this challenging event on a completely traffic free course situated some five miles south of Tunbridge Wells.

The 10 mile course is on unmade roads, grass and woodland trails in stunning scenery through an historic deer park. All proceeds will benefit the campaign for community athletics facilities in Tunbridge Wells.

Entries will cost £10 on the day and there are likely to be more than 200 competitors. Further information is available from Guy Sankey on 01892 511422. The race starts at 10.30am.

Meanwhile, Medway and Maidstone Athletics Club will be officially launched on Saturday when the constituent clubs, Medway and Maidstone and Rochester, formally amalgamate.

There will be a meeting for the members of the merged club on Friday, September 14, at Rochester Grammar School for Girls at 7.30pm.

The management steering committee will be present to answer questions and the draft constitution and rules will be available on the evening.
