Tunbridge Wells: Bewl Water Country Park now offering passenger trips and water taxi around reservoir

If you’re looking for a more leisurely way to explore Bewl Water, two new additions to the site could hold the answer.

The Lamberhurst attraction has launched two new vessels to take visitors on trips around the reservoir.

The two additions have been approved and licensed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

A series of packages are available on the Bewl Belle including morning coffee and cake, lunch and afternoon tea or a cruise around the lake followed by lunch at the Boat House Bistro

Bewl Belle is a 42-foot pleasure cruiser which will take passengers on a 45-minute tour where they can have lunch or afternoon tea on the boat. It’s also bike, pram and dog friendly.

The second vessel is a ferryboat service and will take walkers to and from the three purpose-built jetties at Hatheralls Bay, Ferry Point or Seven Pound Creek, saving a four-mile walk to each one.

It means visitors won’t have to tackle the whole 12.5-mile walk around the reservoir.

Andrew Daniells, chief operating officer of Markerstudy Leisure which runs the site in Bewlbridge Lane, said: “These two new vessels will make a big difference for visitors to Bewl Water, whether they are eight or 80 years old.

The Bewl Belle is now operating cruises on the lake

“When we bought Bewl in January, we promised to make it easier for visitors to get out on the water, and these new services do just that.”

Bewl Water is the largest stretch of open water in the south east and visitors can spend time on the water by hiring pedalos and rowing boats or join the rowing and sailing clubs.

Prices for a cruise on the Bewl Belle are £6 for adults, £4 for children or £16 for a family ticket. The ferryboat service is £3 for a single journey to or from one of the jetties.
