Sparks from a bonfire set a garden fence alight in Staplehurst.

Firefighters were scrambled to Bathurst Road at around 10.50pm yesterday and spent an hour extinguishing the blaze.

It destroyed two fence panels and caused damage to some hedging.

No injuries were reported.
