A high street that was shut after a van reportedly collided with road signage has reopened.

Goudhurst High Street (A262) was shut off to traffic in both directions yesterday from Smiths Lane to B2079 Balcombes Hill.

The route through Goudhurst, a village between Ashford and Tunbridge Wells, was first closed on Saturday night.

Traffic information provider Inrix said the closure had come after “a serious accident” on Saturday evening.

However, there are advance warning signs from UK Power Networks advising it is closed for two days from February 10.

The high street reopened this morning.

Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and UKPN have been contacted for further details.
