A homeowner cutting his lawn for the first time this year has uncovered a creepy mystery.

Cliff Millgate found an eight foot long snake skin at the bottom of his garden in Leybank, Hildenborough.

The skin, which is eight inches wide in places, is grey and at present has not been formally identified.

My Millgate believes its size means it is likely to be some kind of constrictor, but he does not know how it found his way into his garden.

He said: “When I was cutting the lawn I did think to myself it was quite long and there was a chance there would be a grass snake or an adder about, but not this.

“It’s obviously not small - it could easily live off wild animals or someone's pet cat or dog if it had the chance.

“I’m quite concerned about where it is now - if someone finds it it’s going to give them quite a shock. It’s not something you would want in your home or garden.

“I haven’t a clue who could own it.

"The homes in this area were flooded over Christmas so perhaps it escaped then, but you would think someone would report losing a large and potentially dangerous animal.”
