Fans of open water swimming have a treat in store.

From this Saturday, there is again the chance to swim in Bewl Water, the Southern Water reservoir at Lamberhurst.

Bookings open this Friday at noon, with the first swim on Saturday (August 10) going right through until Friday, August 22.

With its expansive 770 acres of clean and inviting water, Bewl, which is operated by Elite Leisure, offers a “health-boosting experience” for swimmers of all levels.

Kevin Parker is the operations director at Bewl Water. He said: “We are thrilled to bring open water swimming back to Bewl.

“Our unique setting here not only offers a stunning backdrop for swimmers, but also expands on what we already offer within our watersports community.

“With the support of the Hastings and St Leonards Voluntary Lifeguard Club and our dedicated onsite team, we are committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.”

Sessions will run every Saturday between 9am till 10.30am and 4pm till 5.30pm, and every Sunday from 9am till 10.30am, with each session costing £12 per swimmer, which includes parking.

All swimmers must complete an induction with lifeguards upon arrival.

The use of tow floats, available to rent, and brightly coloured swim hats, available for purchase, is mandatory.

There are showers and changing rooms.

Open-water swimming is thought to give numerous health benefits, offering swimmers an enhanced sense of well-being, promoting cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and mental clarity.
