Puppies found living in poor conditions have been rescued by police and the RSPCA.

Six puppies and two dogs were removed from a location near Headcorn yesterday.

On social media, Kent Police's Maidstone division said: "Several puppies have been recovered following attendance to a location near #Headcorn.

"#MaidstoneTaskForce and #LPT found the puppies to be living in poor conditions, and following contact with @RSPCA_official and a local vet, the puppies were saved."

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "We worked alongside officers from Kent Police following a call to Headcorn on Monday and now have two adult dogs and six puppies in our care."

They added enquiries are ongoing and would not comment any further.

A police spokesman said: "On July 13, officers, attending an address in Headcorn in connection with a separate enquiry, raised concerns regarding the welfare of some dogs and puppies at the premises.

"The RSPCA was notified and their officers attended."
