A prolific criminal who told magistrates he would "see them later" at his last court appearance has kept his promise.

Darren Turpin, of Granary, Paddock Wood, has appeared in front of Maidstone Magistrates’ Court charged with attacking a member of staff at Tonbridge Police Station earlier this month.

He was sentenced to 20 days in prison for the offence and must pay a £150 criminal courts charge and an £80 victim surcharge.

It was the 46-year-old’s 96th conviction and his 209th offence.

At his last appearance in April he was handed a 90-day sentence for punching 74-year-old William Shanks as he used a public urinal. It was described as an unprovoked and random attack.

While in court he also admitted racially abusing staff at an Indian takeaway and was fined £50.

The incident took place five days after the assault on the pensioner and saw Turpin tell one employee to "go back to her own country" before performing a Nazi salute, which he later tried to claim was a sarcastic wave goodbye.
