She’s starred alongside Hollywood greats Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks, and now film star Lucy Sue will be taking a lead role at a military vehicle and air show in Headcorn.
But Lucy Sue is no ordinary film star – she’s a Second World War Sherman tank.
Named Lucy Sue by owner Gavin Copeman, the tank – most recently seen in the wartime drama Fury, starring Brad Pitt – will be appearing in the Combined Ops Military Vehicle and Air Show at Headcorn Aerodrome on Saturday August 15, and Sunday August 16.
She will be in action on both days of the event, taking part in arena battle re-enactments.
Since filming ended for Fury in September 2013, Lucy Sue has taken part in the 70th anniversary celebrations of the involvement of the British Army’s 30 Corps in Operation Market Garden during the Second World War, and driven the full length of Highway 69 in North America.
Sherman tanks were the mainstay of the Allied tank forces in the Second World War, with more than 50,000 built during the conflict, the vast majority in the United States of America.
Lucy Sue has also appeared in the wartime mini series Band of Brothers.
The event includes mini tank driving for children, and is open form 10am to 6pm on the Saturday and from 10am to 5pm on the Sunday. Tickets cost £25 for a family of two adults and two children (under-fours go free).
