Staff at Cranbrook dessert makers Rhokett Ltd raise money for St Michael’s Hospice in sponsored walk at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest

Workers at a Cranbrook dessert manufacturer tasted sweet success after completing a 12-hour charity walk.

Around 80 staff members and their families clocked up as many kilometres as they could in the challenge, at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest yesterday.

There was a 9km route and a more family friendly 4.5km one for those with pushchairs and young children. But a committed few managed to keep walking laps for the whole 12 hours.

It was all in aid of St Michael’s Hospice in Hastings, which was chosen by Cranbrook cheesecake specialists Rhokett Ltd as their charity of the year.

Organiser Anneke Turner said: “It was really good fun and it was great to see so many people come along.

“I think everyone was exhausted but we know the money raised will make the weary legs worthwhile.

“We are still counting but we know we’ve received at least £500.”

Daughter of chef Glenn Keen, Charlotte, won the prize for the furthest distance walked. Thanks went to all the sponsors.
