A driver was taken to hospital as a precaution after a van hit a lamppost on the A21 this morning.

Police were called at 6.23am to the north-bound carriageway next to the turn-off for Lamberhurst.

Police and ambulance crews were called, and the driver was not thought to have been injured. He was taken to hospital for checks.

The road is open, but there have been lane closures.
