A drive-in cinema is to open at a popular Kent attraction.
Cult classics Jaws and Back To The Future will grace the big screen as the business opens at The Hop Farm next Friday.
The blockbusters are among 11 movies currently scheduled for the first week of the Moonlight Drive-In Cinema’s tenure at the Paddock Wood tourist trap.
Lucky opening night theatre goers hope they won’t be stranded at the drive-in as they take in a sell-out showing of 70s classic Grease. Current release London Has Fallen also screens at 9.30pm and at the same time on Saturday.
Dirty Dancing, Jurassic World and Minions will also be screening, with founder Benjamin Stonehouse promising a variety of new and old releases to entertain all ages.
The 24-year-old who set up the cinema last summer in a field in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, said: “We started in July and carried on as long as the weather would allow us to. We also have run a number of pop up events and are now moving the whole operation down to Paddock Wood.
“Kent is a much larger catchment area and there aren’t many similar projects out there.”
Mr Stonehouse says the sell-out opening night will see 110 cars park up at the silver screen, with space for up to 30 more.
He added: “In the second week of half term we will be very much family focused. Most of the films will be old classics but we will also have some big films which have been out recently.”
The cinema could remain at the Maidstone Road site for two years.
Food will be available and will be delivered to viewers, with audio played through each vehicle’s radio and tickets priced at £20 per car.
