Police have issued an appeal for any witnesses to a fatal crash on the A21 to come forward.
The accident happened yesterday near Pembury on the southbound carriageway between the junction with the A26 and the junction with Longfield Road.
A white Iveco Daily van travelling south is reported to have collided with a parked blue Land Rover Discovery at just before 11am.
The driver, a man in his 60s, and the female passenger of the Land Rover were taken to King's College Hospital in London, but sadly the driver later died. The passenger remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are conducting an investigation and would like to speak with anyone who has information who has not yet been in contact.
They would also like to obtain dash camera footage, or privately held CCTV, that captures either the collision or the vehicles in the moments leading up to it.
Traffic was gridlocked for more than three hours as a result of the accident, with police closing the road between A26 Woodgate Way and Longfield Road.
The tragedy was the first of two fatal accidents in the area yesterday. Just 40 minutes after the first crash, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident with a BMW car in Pembury High Street.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 798538, quoting reference SM/LB/077/20. Alternatively, email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk
