A man had to be freed by firefighters after becoming pinned underneath a two-tonne machine at an industrial estate in Laddingford.
Fire and ambulance crews and police were called to the incident at Woodfalls Business Centre in Gravelly Ways.
The alarm was raised at around 3.35pm after the man became trapped under a routing machine.
Hydraulic rams were used to lift the machine before it was dismantled to release the man after around two hours.
He had suffered crush injuries to his chest, and suspected internal injuries.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an ambulance crew, two responders and an officer attended the scene, working with firefighters to rescue the man, who was then taken to Kings College Hospital London by the air ambulance.
Kent police said in a statement: “Kent Police was called at around 3.35pm to an industrial estate in Laddingford following a report of an industrial accident.
“The Health and Safety Executive have taken over the incident.”
A spokesman for the HSE confirmed it was investigating.
