A blaze which started through a rural home was caused by curtains drying too close to a halogen unit.
Three fire crews were called to Rye Road in Sandhurst, near Hawkhurst, at 6.30pm on Tuesday night after reports that a converted barn was alight.
The blaze started on the first floor landing and spread to the roof.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter the property and a ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke and fumes.
There were no reports of any injuries and the crews left shortly after 7.35pm.
