Paddock Wood: Fire crews tackling blaze at a house in Lucknow Road

Two pensioners have been treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of a house fire in Lucknow Road, Paddock Wood this morning.

The blaze began around 9.30am and the two elderly residents, understood to be in their 80s have been handed over to paramedics.

They did not require hospital treatment and there were no other reported injuries.

Crews from four fire engines used a hose reel jet and ventilation fan to deal with the fire, which took hold on both floors of the house.

Neighbour Danny Ball said fire crews arrived around 10am. He said: "The flames were really tall when it got going. The first fire officer was a man in a car who ran into the house.

"He came back out when the fire engines arrived."

The cause is not yet known.
