Four charged after woman allegedly assaulted by other motorists in Water Lane, Hawkhurst

Four people have been charged after a woman in her 60s was seriously injured following an alleged “assault” on a one-way street.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon (April 6) as the victim was driving her car along Water Lane in Hawkhurst.

It is reported that, at around 2.40pm, she met a motorcycle followed by a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The woman stopped her car and spoke to the man on the motorbike and it is reported he, along with the occupants of the car, then assaulted her before they left the scene.

The victim, who is in her 60s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

Yesterday (April 7) two men and two women were detained in connection with the incident. It is alleged officers were assaulted during the arrests.

Freddie Turner, 26, Brett Turner, 50, Ellie Turner, 21, and Rose Smith, 50, of All Saints Road, Hawkhurst, were later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Smith was also charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

Ms Turner was further charged with three assaults on emergency workers and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

All four suspects were remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court today (April 9).
