Domino's has apologised to customers amid claims a new branch ran out of pizzas after being open for just one day.
In November the pizza chain announced a long-awaited store would be opening in Paddock Wood.
But Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s Day all went past, with no sign of pepperoni or stuffed crusts.
The new store in Church Road, on the site of a former dental practice, finally opened on Tuesday, March 22.
A steady stream of customers arrived, but when pizza lovers turned up for their fix the very next day, the doors were closed.
A sign citing technical difficulties has been placed in the shop’s window and it has now been shut for more than two weeks.
Residents in Marden said when trying to order from the branch, the Domino’s phone application says the store does not exist and the phonelines are not answered.
Dozens of people have taken to social media to vent their frustration, with many claiming the branch ran out of pizza.
Others said computers in the branch failed, meaning no orders could be placed, but Domino’s has not confirmed this.
The company’s Facebook account has replied to a select handful saying it hopes the store will open as soon as possible – but has not given an explanation for the closure.
Jobs at the branch are also being advertised on several recruitment sites.
The nearest Domino’s branch for Paddock Wood residents is seven miles away in Tonbridge, but it does not deliver to the area.
Customer Dan Goodfellow said: “They have not explained the reason for the closure other than a sign on their window citing technical difficulties. I’ve made pizza before, and it isn’t that technical.”
Speaking on behalf of Domino’s Pizza Group, Helen Tosney-Collins said: “Unfortunately, we experienced some technical issues with our plant and equipment.
"We’re hoping to have this rectified early this week, with a view to opening the doors again shortly after. We apologise to all pizza lovers in the area for the delay.”
