Ex Meridian weather girl, Gemma Holmes, opened the door to her boutique, Odyl in Cranbrook six years ago.
Now her store has been declared one of the UK’s top 100 inspiring independents by Drapers - the trade magazine founded in 1887 that is the bible to the fashion industry.
The list of top 100 independents was voted for by readers through an online nomination process.
Odyl was recognised for "its success, creativity and survival measures during the Covid-19 pandemic." These included free consultations over Zoom, new clothing ranges launched through social media and hand-delivered orders to some of its customers.
The resilience and dedication delivered to the high street by Mrs Holmes and her team were highly commended throughout exceptional circumstances.
Mrs Holmes, a mum to one, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised by Drapers.
“There are thousands of independent fashion businesses all over the UK providing excellent clothing lines and customer service. To be chosen as one of the top 100 during a global crisis is truly humbling."
'I couldn't be prouder'
“We work really hard to identify brands and garments that our customers will love and have built up great relationships over the years with suppliers.
“I couldn’t be prouder of my team with the amount of dedication and flexibility they have put into the business over the past six months.
"We’ve really pulled together and tried to diversify so this recognition is a fantastic reward.”
Odyl at 35 High Street, Cranbrook, stocks a wide range of clothing brands including Onjenu, Fabienne Chapot and Second Female, with sizes available from eight to 20.
Patrons can book a free styling consultation in person with Ms Holmes over Zoom by calling 01580 714907.
