A rising young star in the music world has praised the Weald school which encouraged her on her path.
Seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter Elo Quitmann has just released her third single on Spotify where she already has a strong following of fans. She performs regularly at The Grey Lady in Tunbridge Wells and has appeared on kmtv's Bassed in Kent.
Elo, first picked up a guitar at the age of 10 and soon began performing at concerts at Marlborough House school in Hawkhurst.
She said: "Marlborough House gave me the confidence to express myself through music and ignited my enjoyment of performing to an audience.”
Her songs are about family, relationships at school and teenage life, and she said her style has been shaped by being brought up on a cocktail of Squeeze, Tracy Chapman, Lily Allen and Jake Bugg.
Her talents were subsequently recognised by Eastbourne College which offered her a Music Scholarship.
The head of music at Marlborough House, Diane Day, said: “Elo was always a delight to teach. She had a great sense of fun and really enjoyed music and singing.
"From her very first performance it was clear that she was in her element; it was spine-tingling.”
