Dr Lorna Wing: Pioneering Psychiatrist

To mark world mental health day, join us as we learn about the life and work of pioneering psychiatrist Dr Lorna Wing. She founded the organisation that later became the National Autistic Society.
Lorna revolutionised the way autism was regarded, and developed the concept of an autism spectrum. She campaigned for the educational rights of autistic children, and founded the organisation that later became the National Autistic Society.

This talk is part of the circle of six, a project to celebrate the global impact of six women with a personal connection to Gillingham.

The picture is of Dr Lorna Wing, created by artist Nicole Mollett. The six murals of the women are available to view at the Britton Farm development, Jeffrey Street, opposite the Monarch Pub.
