10 family days out in Kent for the Easter bank holiday weekend

The countdown to the four-day weekend is on and it’s only a matter of days before we’re cracking open the chocolate Easter eggs and kicking back in the bank holiday sunshine.

BETTESHANGER COUNTRY PARK, Deal

Follow Billy, the park’s resident Easter Bunny, as you hop along the woodland trail in search of missing Easter eggs. If you can figure out who has been hiding the eggs all over the woods, you’ll get a special treat as your reward. Each visitor gets a trail sheet and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny.

COURT STREET, Faversham

Get in the mood for the spring with a colourful bonnet parade. The traditional Easter procession starts in Faversham’s Court Street at 2pm and will continue along to the town’s Alexander Centre, with children of all ages participating in the event. There’s also a craft fair, Easter trail, live entertainment and food and drink inside the nearby St Mary’s Church from 10am.

GODINTON HOUSE AND GARDENS, Ashford

Follow the animal tracks and find the clues to complete this special Easter trail. You’ll learn all about the wild animals that live in and around Godinton House and can explore the estate’s spectacular spring gardens.

HARBOUR ARM, Folkestone

Over the bank holiday weekend, 100 eggs will be hidden around Folkestone’s harbour. Each egg is filled with a special prize from one of the harbour’s businesses, such as free adventure golf and food and drink vouchers. Visitors can scour the seaside destination and hunt for the 25 eggs that will be scattered around each day of the Easter weekend.

FIVE BELLS, near Sandwich

This village pub will be throwing its 17th beer, cider and music festival, packed with real ale and live entertainment. The four-day event sees a stack of local beers and ciders with tasting notes on offer, as well as singers and musicians keeping punters entertained all weekend. There will also be children’s activities, including face painting, Punch and Judy shows and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Don’t forget to stop off at the hog roast to soak up the booze.

KENT EVENT CENTRE, Detling

A quirky convention celebrating the colourful world of body art and modification returns for its seventh year. The Maidstone Tattoo Extravaganza, organised by local couple Fraser and Samantha Williams, will bring together more than 100 tattoo artists to showcase custom and flash pieces. Many studios from Kent and further afield will be setting up shop for the weekend, and there will also be gift stalls, jewellery and accessories, wall art and food and drink traders.

QUEX ADVENTURE FARM PARK, Birchington-on-Sea

Get stuck into a whole host of fun, family activities over the weekend with a cracking Easter-themed trail. You can follow the clues and complete the outdoor trail before picking up some sweet treats, hopping on the Bunny Express tractor ride, planting a carrot with the farmers, hunting for your own Easter eggs and saying hello to the Easter Bunny.

SPA VALLEY RAILWAY, Tunbridge Wells

Egbert Holmes, the great egg detective, is trying to crack the case of the Easter Bunny’s missing eggs. Join Egbert and his sidekick aboard an authentic steam engine and watch as he tries to figure out clues to solve the mystery. You can help by completing your activity sheet along the way.

UPDOWN FARMHOUSE, near Deal

The celebrations start with the annual Easter egg hunt on Good Friday where children can find lots of chocolate treats hidden across the grounds. Then, on Easter Monday, there will be a children’s party with music, a bouncy castle, egg painting and biscuit decorating.

VICTORIA GARDENS, Broadstairs

This annual Easter festival returns for a weekend of pop-up food stalls, live demos and guided tastings. The three-day event will have a host of culinary experts showcasing their signature dishes and cooking up a storm in their outdoor kitchens, while local traders like Tipsy Bakery, Radburger, Canterbury Cheesemakers and Kent Cider will be making an appearance.
