Take a trip down memory lane with a nostalgic 1940s weekend.
The Kent and East Sussex Railway will be throwing a wartime celebration with vintage fashion, military vehicles and swing music.
Railway stations in both Tenterden and Bodiam will be filled with live music for visitors to enjoy before their train arrives, with Lindy Hop dancers and period civilians dressed in their 1940s finery.
Each station will have a range of live entertainment and displays so that passengers can continue making the most of the weekend when they step off the train.
There will be vintage stalls from local traders, including fashion and hairstyling from Ashford-based businesses Ruby Jo Retro and Belle’s Parlour, and black market goods on offer from Viv the Spiv.
A selection of military vehicles will be on display, and there will also be cooking demonstrations to show people what it was really like to cook with 1940s rations.
Each visitor will be given a free identity card and are encouraged to dress up in their own retro outfits to truly immerse themselves in the event.
There will be eight trains per day, leaving Tenterden station every 45 minutes from 10:45am.
The 1940s weekend takes place on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14. You can book tickets online here.
Tickets cost £26.50 per adult and £14.50 per child.
