Go back to the summer of 1963 as one of the most famous on-screen love stories comes to the stage.
Dirty Dancing is coming to the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury for five nights of sexy salsas, mesmerising mambos and terrific tangos.
The show, which finished a record-breaking run on the West End earlier this year, is heading out on a nationwide tour.
Michael O’Reilly and Kira Malou, who were part of the London cast, will be reprising the roles of Johnny Castle and Baby.
The pair are once again stepping into the dancing shoes of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, who originated the star-crossed lovers in the 1987 film.
The film was a commercial success upon its release and received numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
The song, (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, is also part of the musical production alongside other tunes from the film such as Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby and Do You Love Me.
The show follows Baby, a teenage girl who visits Kellerman's holiday camp to spend the the summer vacationing with her family.
When she arrives, she meets Johnny Castle, a rebellious dance instructor, and his professional partner Penny.
Baby and Johnny quickly fall in love but are forced to hide their relationship from Baby’s strict parents, all the while trying to save Johnny and Penny’s careers.
The live tour is produced by Karl Sydow, who has also worked on productions such as the Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Sting’s The Last Ship.
“I am thrilled about the success of the second Dominion Theatre season and to be going out on tour for the fifth time since 2011,” says Karl. “We have an amazing cast for this new tour.”
Dirty Dancing will be at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury from Tuesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 4. You can book tickets online here.
