A riot of colour will greet visitors to Great Comp Garden’s biggest event of the year.
The summer show is held when the garden near Borough Green is at the peak of its colour.
Marquees in the seven acre garden will house ornamental garden wares, local artists and crafts people, while a jazz band will entertain on the lawn in front of the 17th century house.
The two-day event has become a firm favourite with plant hunters and garden lovers over the years for its plantsmen and women and award-winning plants.
Among the exhibitors attending for the first time is Julie Burton from Heucheraholics, based in the New Forest, who won gold at both RHS Chelsea and RHS Hampton Court this year.
Great Comp curator William Dyson will be displaying and selling his rare salvia plants.
He said: “I grew up within sight of the Sheffield Botanical Garden and would follow the park keeper and ride on the back of their mowers. I was so lucky to have the botanical gardens on my doorstep and be exposed to such exotic blooms from an early age. But, the plant that shaped the gardener I am today is the salvia. These wonderful plants bring excitement to the garden and bees love the nectar they produce.”
He has drawn together more than 40 exhibitors for the show with specialist nurseries and exhibitors including the Kent Hardy Plant Society.
