Margate’s Dreamland will play host to soul musicians and a ‘90s rock band in a bumper weekend of live music.
Primal Scream and the Margate Soul Festival will both take place at the vintage fairground from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6.
Primal Scream, fronted by founding member Bobby Gillespie, will perform on the outdoor Scenic Stage on Saturday, August 5 as part of the Margate Summer Series.
The group have a back-catalogue spanning more than 35 years and are best known for singles such as Movin’ On Up, Rocks and Loaded.
The Mercury Music Prize winners, who have achieved seven Top 10 albums including Screamadelica and Give Out But Don't Give Up, will be joined at their Kent concert by Happy Mondays.
The Manchester-based band rose to fame in the 1980s as part of Tony Wilson’s Factory Records alongside Joy Division and New Order.
Their hits, including Step On, Kinky Afro and 24 Hour Party People, have led to two BRIT Award nominations and an Ivor Novello Award in 2016.
If you’re not a fan of British rock bands, the seaside attraction will also be home to the Margate Soul Festival over the weekend.
The festival will take place at Dreamland’s indoor venues the Ballroom and the Hall by the Sea, as well as a number of locations along the harbour and beach, from Friday to Sunday.
This year, the line-up includes American singer Leroy Burgess and Grammy-nominated musician Josh Milan.
There will also be live DJs, carnival street parties, nighttime entertainment and a closing party on Sunday night.
You can get tickets to both events here.
The concerts are part of Dreamland’s summer programme, which includes artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Olly Murs, The Streets, Two Door Cinema Club and UB40.
